Our Past

Govt. Girls, Higher secondary School is situated at Irijalakuda in Thrissur District, Kerala state, India. This institution was established in 1892. In early years admission to this institution was only to girls from aristocratic Hindu families. Later the gate of this school was opened to all communities. At that time this was the only girls’ institution within the radius of 15 sq. kms. To be a student of this institution was a symbol of dignity and nobility. There were 15 divisions in each class in the golden years of this school. When other institutions were started in and around Irijnalakuda the strength of pupils came down.

The Present

With the introduction of Vocational Higher secondary and Plus Two courses the Golden years of this institution has been returned. Now it is one of the best higher secondary schools in Kerala. This is the first intuition in the state to have introduced postmodern facilities such as its own web site and E-Mail address for all students and staff of this institution.
