HIGHER SECONDARY EXAMINATION MARCH 2005

The Higher Secondary/Technical Higher Secondary/ Art Higher Secondary practical  and theory

Examinations, March 2005 will be held from 14.02.2005 to 28.03.2005 in accordance with the timetable given in this notification. The Theory Examinations are scheduled from 09-03-2005 to 28-03-2005 and Practical Examinations from 14-02-2005 to 28-02-2005.

For the candidates of First Year (CLASS XI) there will be an internal examination at the end of the first year covering the portions of class XI. The conduct of the internal examination and finalization of results will be done by the Principals of the respective schools. The regular school going candidates of first year (CLASS XI) appearing for internal examination must have completed the course of study in a Higher Secondary school for one academic year securing not less than 75% attendance. In the case of candidates of Open School and Private Registration, the first year internal examination will be conducted by the Kerala State Open School.

The candidates of Class XI securing a minimum of 35% marks for each subject at internal examination only will be permitted to appear for the Public Examination of CLASS XII. The candidates for the Higher Secondary Public Examination (class XII) of March 2005 must have completed the course of study for class XII securing not less than 75% attendance. The Principals are directed to see that all regular students (2003-2005 batch) on rolls as on 01.01.2005 are presented for Higher Secondary Examination, March 2005 if they are otherwise eligible.

Shortage of attendance below the minimum specified above for class XI and class XII can be condoned in deserving cases based on the existing rules.

A candidate for the Higher Secondary Examination (CLASS XII) shall be required to register himself for the whole examination at his first appearance. Attendance in practical examination is compulsory.  A candidate who fails to attend the practical examination in a particular subject will be treated as failed in that subject. In subsequent appearances, a candidate must appear for theory and practical together in a subject.

In the case of Kalamandalam Art Higher Secondary course, those candidates who have secured minimum marks of 50% for practical are exempted from appearing for the practical examination at the subsequent appearances.

There will be two Examinations in a Year, one in March, and the other "SAY Examination" for the candidates who failed only in one subject at the March Examination one month after the publication of results of the Examination held in March.  Candidates who have passed the March Higher Secondary Examination can appear for improvement only for one paper. Improvement wilt be permitted only once;, the examination should be taken along with the SAY examination that immediately follows the March Examination.

A candidate should obtain 35% marks in each subject in which there is no practical except in the Art subject. In the case of general subjects where there are practicals, candidates should obtain a separate minimum of 30 % marks in theory and 35% aggregate in theory and practical, taken together (no separate minimum for practical except in Art subjects). For Art Higher Secondary papers a separate minimum of 35% is prescribed for theory and 50% for practical to get a pass.

Candidates who fail at March Examination in one subject only shall register for the failed subject alone (both theory and practical) at the subsequent " SAY Examination". Those who fail in more than one subject may appear for the succeeding March examination in the failed subjects only for a Pass. Failed candidates are not permitted to appear for the whole examination again if they have passed in any subject.

All regular candidates (first appearance] have to write the March 2005 examination in accordance with the syllabus prescribed for 2003 admission. Failed candidates of both Old and New Schemes including those who have cancelled the Examination of March 2004 shall write the March 2005 Examination in accordance with the scheme and syllabus prescribed for March 2004 (New Scheme) Examination.
 

 Private registration and Open School candidates shall submit their applications for Higher Secondary Examination in the prescribed form along with the Private Registration Memo/Attested copy of Identity Card issued by The Kerala State Open School and attested copy of the Marklist of the First Year examination [std XI] remitting the prescribed fees to the Principal of the school where they had submitted their application for private registration.  A certificate regarding the candidate's eligibility will be recorded by the District Coordinator of the Open School in the application for registering for the Public examination [Std XII]. There is no separate application form for Private Registration candidates and Open School Candidates. The open school candidates are permitted to register and appear for their examination only in the examination centres selected by the Director of Kerala State Open School and the candidates of the subsequent appearances are not permitted to change the examination centre.  Candidates will not be permitted to appear for any subject under Part II or Part III other than those they had chosen at the time of private registration.

Candidates of the Higher Secondary Examination who pass in the first appearance will be classified as follows : (1) Not less than 75% of the Grand Total marks will be placed in the "FIRST CLASS WITH DISTINCTION",  (2) Not less than 60% but below 75% marks will be placed in "FIRST CLASS", (3) Not less than 50% but below 60% marks will be placed in "SECOND CLASS", (4) All other candidates who pass the Higher Secondary Examination will be placed in "THIRD CLASS". All candidates who pass the Examination in subsequent appearance on compartmental basis will be placed in THIRD CLASS'. Certificates will be issued to all .except to those totally absent, noting result, class etc.

There is a prescribed form of application for admission to the examination. Duly filled up application must be submitted to  the Head of the Institution in which they .are studying / studied.  The attested photocopy of Secondary School Leaving Certificate  is to be attached to the application The attested photocopy of the Higher Secondary Examination Certificate of earlier appearance's] should also be attached along with the application in the case of the subsequent appearance candidates. No change of centre will be allowed.  No application received directly from the candidates in this office will be entertained. The Heads of institutions should ensure that no candidates other than those who had applied through the school are permitted to appear from their school as private/compartmental candidates. The prescribed form of application and hall ticket will be available with the Heads of institutions. The entries in the application form should be made very carefully. The Heads of institution must collect duly filled up application form along with examination fee from the candidates.

Instructions for Preparing the Nominal Roll

1.    After obtaining the applications the Head of the institution should  verify whether the information   furnished by the candidates are genuine.

2.    Separate Nominal rolls should be used for SCIENCE, HUMANITIES,  COMMERCE,  TECHNICAL AND ART Groups.

3.    Separate  Group wise  nominal  rolls  shall  be  prepared for Regular [SCHOOL GOING,  PVT. REGISTRATION AND OPEN SCHOOL CANDIDATES] and COMPARTMENTAL candidates.

4.   The names of the candidates are to be entered in Black Ink as in the SSLC Book. Special attention should be given for  writing the spelling correctly and for giving space between various parts of the name exactly as given in the SSLC Book.

5.    Against each name the sex of the candidate ( Male/Female - M/F] and also whether the candidate belongs to SC/ST should be noted in Red Ink,

6.    In each group and each combination the names of the candidates shall be arranged alphabetically, gender wise and Second language wise. [Second Language in the order given in the nominal roll, ie MALAYALAM,   HINDI, etc ]. Total number of candidates appearing for each subject should be written at the end of the Nominal roll. 7.    In the case of candidates appearing in subsequent appearances, their previous appearance Register  Numbers and year should be entered in the Nominal roll [in the column provided] and attested copy  of the previous certificates should be attached along with application.
